170+ free UK channels via satellite — BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and more. No monthly subscription. Receivers in stock in Paris, delivered across France.
Freesat is the United Kingdom's leading free satellite television platform, operated by Everyone TV — the joint venture of the BBC and ITV. It delivers over 170 UK channels completely free of charge — including BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Three, BBC Four, ITV, ITV2, ITV3, Channel 4, More4, Channel 5, 5Star, Dave, Sky News, GB News, PBS America and many more — in full high definition, with no monthly subscription and no ongoing fees of any kind. Connect the receiver to a broadband internet connection and you also unlock Catch Up TV and On Demand services from BBC iPlayer, ITVX, My5 and All4.
Freesat is received via a satellite dish pointed at the Astra 28.2°E satellite, the same satellite cluster used for Sky TV in the UK. Once installed and aligned correctly, it provides a stable, high-quality picture with no internet dependency for live television — an important advantage in rural areas of France where broadband speeds can be variable.
The standard Freesat HD receiver gives you access to all 170+ UK free channels in full high definition — live, as they are broadcast. It connects to your broadband router via Wi-Fi or Ethernet to unlock BBC iPlayer, ITVX, My5 and All4 for Catch Up and On Demand viewing. This model does not include a built-in hard drive and is designed for live TV viewing only — the ideal choice if you simply want to watch British television in France without complexity or cost.

The Freesat HD Recorder adds a built-in hard drive for recording live UK programmes in full HD. Available in two storage versions: 500 GB (approx. 300 hours of HD content) and 1 TB (approx. 600 hours). Twin satellite tuners allow you to watch one channel while recording another — or record two programmes simultaneously. Series linking automatically records every episode of a series. Catch Up and On Demand via broadband included.
Enquire or OrderReceiving UK Freesat in France requires a satellite dish correctly aligned to Astra 28.2°E. The size of dish required depends heavily on your location. In the north of France — Paris, Normandy, Brittany, the Loire Valley, Alsace — a dish of 60 to 80 cm is usually sufficient for reliable reception. As you move south, the satellite sits lower on the horizon and the signal weakens considerably.
In the Dordogne, Lot and Aveyron regions, a dish of 100 to 120 cm is typically needed. Further south still — in Toulouse, Montpellier, Marseille, Nice, the Var or the Côte d'Azur — you may require a dish of 150 cm or larger to achieve reliable BBC reception. Dishes of this size are substantial structures: they are expensive to purchase, require professional installation on a solid mounting, and can be difficult or impossible to install on certain properties due to planning restrictions, landlord rules, or co-ownership regulations.
For these reasons, we always recommend that customers in southern France — or anyone renting their property, living in an apartment, or concerned about aesthetics — consider our UK HD Broadband Receiver as an alternative. It delivers 70+ live UK channels over your internet connection, requires no dish, no installation and no maintenance, and costs just €16 per month with no long-term commitment. It is worth comparing the total cost of ownership honestly before making a decision.
